Salty Locks Hair Guarantee
At Salty Locks, we stand behind the quality and integrity of our hair. Our factory guarantees each bundle is ethically sourced, textile-free, and free of heavy silicone coatings. This ensures long-lasting wear, beautiful results—and no chemical surprises.
🔬 Sunscreen + Hair Color Disclaimer
Salty Locks hair will not turn pink from sunscreen. This issue occurs only when hair is coated in heavy silicones or textile blends, which can chemically react with ingredients like benzophenone found in many sunscreens. Since Salty Locks hair is 100% raw and uncoated, this reaction cannot occur.
⚠️ Important: If your hair has turned pink, it cannot be corrected with bleach or color removers like Malibu C. The discoloration is a chemical burn—not a pigment—and is permanent.
🔗 Shedding Guarantee (Weft Hair Only)
The factory guarantees zero shedding from our hand-tied, machine wefts & Genius wefts when properly installed. If you experience weft shedding, contact Salty Locks immediately with photos so we can review and assist. Text photos to 706-945-0175.
✂️ Fusion Extensions Exception:
Shedding from fusion bonds is not covered. This is typically caused by:
- Overheating or underheating the bond
- Improper wrapping of the bond around the hair
- Poor tension or placementSince installation technique determines bond success, Salty Locks does not guarantee any method of installation.

🧪 Water + Sun Exposure Disclaimers
Just like your natural hair, extensions can change color due to environmental exposure. Here’s what you need to know:
🔍 Issue | ✅ Will Happen | ❌ Will Not Happen | 💡 Solution |
---|---|---|---|
Chlorine | Hair may turn green | — | Use clarifying shampoo, Malibu |
UV Sunlight | Can cause brassiness or lightening | — | UV protectant spray, hats |
Hard Water / Well Water | Mineral buildup may cause orange/brassy tones | — | Shower filter, Malibu C, toner |
Sunscreen Reaction | — | Will not turn pink | (Our hair is not silicone coated) |
✨ Tip: If your hair has changed color but the tone corrects with Malibu or toner, it was not caused by sunscreen.
🧴 Hair Discoloration & Care – What You Need to Know
At Salty Locks, we promise to provide you with the highest quality hair extensions. But just like your natural hair, extensions can react to things like sun, water, and styling products. Here’s what to watch out for and how to protect your investment:
💧 Why Does Hair Turn Green?
If you go swimming in a pool with chlorine, your hair (yes, even your natural hair!) can turn a greenish tint. This happens because the chlorine and metals in the water stick to your hair, especially if it's blonde.
What to do:
- Always wet your hair with clean water first before swimming.
- Wear it in a bun or braid.
After swimming, wash it with a clarifying shampoo or use a product like Malibu C to remove the green.
☀️ Why Does Blonde Hair Turn Orange or Brassy?
If your hair starts to look orange, yellow, or “warm” instead of that clean blonde you started with, here’s why:
- Sunlight (UV rays) can fade color and bring out warmer undertones.
- Hard water (like well water or hotel showers) contains minerals like iron or copper that can stain the hair.
- Product build-up, pollution, or even smoke can make hair look dull or warm.
What to do:
- Use a shower filter at home to block minerals.
- Wear a hat or use UV-protectant spray at the beach or pool.
Use a toning shampoo or ask your stylist for a deep clean or toner service.
❌ What About Sunscreen Turning Hair Pink?
Some extension brands use silicone or fabric coatings on their hair, which can react with sunscreen and turn the hair pink.
Salty Locks does NOT do that.
We don’t coat our hair in those materials, so this can’t happen with our extensions.
If your hair has turned pink and won’t tone out with shampoo or Malibu C, this is a permanent chemical stain caused by coated or synthetic hair, not raw Slavic hair.
🧷 A Note on Shedding
If your weft extensions (the kind sewn or beaded into rows) start shedding, let us know immediately. That’s rare and may be covered.
But if you're wearing fusion extensions (tiny keratin bonds), shedding usually means the bonds weren’t applied correctly—maybe the stylist overheated them or not enough or didn’t wrap them properly.
That part isn’t covered by us, because we don’t guarantee installations.
✨ In Summary:
- Chlorine = green hair (fixable)
- Sun/Water = brassiness (fixable)
- Pink = chemical damage from other brands (not fixable, but not Salty Locks)
- Fusion shedding = stylist error (not covered)
